    Toys for Tots

    2020 Sitzmark Toy Drive

Please bring NEW, UNWRAPPED toys to the October or November meetings or any event before December 6th.

2020 has been a crazy year and many people are suffering, especially the children. Let's join together and try to make the holidays a bit brighter for some deserving, local kids.

Please consider donating one or many new, unwrapped toys to our toy drive. It is so easy and so fun! Simply purchase toys for children 12 and under. Ask your kids or grand kids what toys would be good or get ones that you loved as a kid!

There are many ways to donate a toy to the Sitzmark Toy Drive and all are tax deductible:

    • bring the UNWRAPPED toys to the October or November meetings or any event before December 6, 2020 and either Nancy Woltzen or someone else will collect them
    • drop the UNWRAPPED toys off at Nancy's house, please call first
    • order and ship the toys directly to my house, message me to let me know they are coming
    • Write a check to Toys for Tots

Email, text, call me with questions!

    • Riverside Theatre & Rock Bottom

Riverside Theater Ghost Tour & Dinner at Rock Bottom on October 29th (Sorry, this event is sold out, two on the waiting list)

    • Tour: 6:00 pm - Tour cost is $26.40
    • Dinner at 7:30 pm

The Riverside Theater is best known for two things: amazing shows and being one of the most haunted places in Wisconsin. Over the past 91 years, reports of paranormal activity have been a regular occurrence between the catastrophic fires of the 1960s, massive floods and many mysterious tales from those who have lived and died here. Now you get the unique opportunity to learn more about the behind-the-scenes paranormal activity encountered by staff, patrons and professional ghost hunters.

Don’t believe it? Come experience it for yourself!

    • 60-minute tour of hot spots for paranormal activity (not normally open to the public).
    • Learn historical tidbits about the Riverside from haunted historians.
    • Hear spine-tingling tales and hear unexplainable, eerie EVPs (electronic voice phenomenon) from past ghost hunts.
    • Bar service available before and after tours…hey, it’s Milwaukee after all!
    • Masks required.

After the tour we will walk over to Rock Bottom (2 blocks away) for dinner. They have some awesome Rocktoberfest specials!

The beautiful and friendly Lionshead Village is completely closed off to cars and buses, offering a short walk to the Eagle Bahn gondola, Chair 8 (Born Free Express), the Arrabelle Square outdoor ice rink (with skate rental), and numerous shops and restaurants.

Originally built in the late 60s, Lionshead was recently renovated in Austrian-inspired style. Long-time favorite restaurants Bart & Yeti’s and Garfinkel’s (Garf's to locals) anchor the diverse culinary scene. The Vail Chop House and Tavern at Vail Square offer more upscale dining options as well as a great place for slope-side cocktails.

There is a mix of shopping, from luxury goods to much-loved outdoor lifestyle brands like Burton, Patagonia, Salomon and The North Face. Also, the walk between Lionshead and Vail Village only takes 10-15 minutes, or there is a complimentary In-Town bus that runs regularly, all day long and well into the evening.

      IMPORTANT NEWS ON LIFT TICKETS!!!

Vail Resorts has made significant changes to lift policies for the 2020-2021 season. Please see the Epic Pass website for details.

For this year, you will be able to choose between purchasing the traditional group tickets and an Epic Daily Pass (or other Epic passes). The Daily Pass is more expensive than our group passes ($312 vs $369 for 3 days and $323 vs $404 for 4 days). Due to Vail Resort's policies you must reserve the days you wish to ski. If you purchase the group pass, which is included in the lift packages, you CANNOT reserve the days you wish to ski and could thus could be shut out from skiing if reservations fill up.

If you wish to purchase any of the Epic passes, sign up for a package without lifts and purchase the Epic pass of your choice on their website. Prices are set to increase after September 17. You will be able to reserve your days beginning sometime in November. Check the Epic site for updates.

      Taos Ski Valley

Kachina Peak stands high above the Sangre de Cristo mountain range at 12,481 feet. From here, skiers and boarders survey some of the finest terrain in North America - bone dry powder shots, steep chutes, big bumps, cornices, and glades- it is all here. If heart-stopping terrain is not your thing, you will find miles of well-manicured slopes and gradual groomers to carve up all season long. This mecca of snow sports shows every level of skier and boarder a great time.

Skiing and riding are at the heart of the Taos Ski Valley experience. The 2014 construction of the Kachina Peak chairlift was the first of numerous on-hill improvements to enhance skiing and riding opportunities. Additional chairlift upgrades include a new Gondola and the replacement of Lift 1 with Taos’s first high-speed quad.

Recognizing the importance of a mountain experience connected to a vibrant core, the revitalization of Taos includes a new village at the foot of the slopes complementing its one-of-a-kind surroundings. A re-energized pedestrian village and plaza will include a riverwalk experience, new retail shops and will provide a year-round gathering point for visitors, events and programs.

Sign-up for all trips will be as of September 12, 2020.

This will be our most Covid-19 friendly trip, with 2 people per room, our own transportation to the resorts and 3 week lodging cancellation for Covid-19 concerns and 4 weeks for other reasons with no penalties. (Tour operator cancellation fee will be applied, however)

Powder Mountain has the most skiable terrain of any ski area in the United States. The 5,500 acres includes 2,800 lift-accessible acres. 500 inches of real snow annually makes the resort famous for its powder skiing. Snowcat skiing, the Powder Country shuttle, guided tours of Wolf Creek Canyon and heli-skiing ensure that you can find untracked slopes. Of course, real snow makes for beautifully groomed cruisers for those seeking less challenging trails.

Since the resort is so massive, hosts conduct complimentary orientation tours daily at 10:00 am. Hosts can also be booked for half-day and full-day powder tours.

Snowbasin, a Sun Valley Resort, is a large resort in the Ogden area, covering a good selection of runs on varied terrain. It was the site of the Downhill and Super G events for the 2002 Winter Olympics. Snowbasin tends to be much less crowded than the resorts near Salt Lake City.

Snowbasin cultivates a european style ski experience, complete with trams and gondolas, fine dining at trailside chalets, and cultural diversity expected of an Olympic venue.
